84 SOUTHLANDERS CHOP OFF HAIR IN OCT. AT SPA PECHANGA TO HELP THOSE BATTLING BREAST CANCER

jonah2_sm TEMECULA, Calif. – (Nov. 8, 2016) – Eighty four ponytails are on their way to a wig bank that will make hair pieces for women undergoing cancer treatment. The donated hair came from generous donors who came into Spa Pechanga throughout the month of October to cut off at least eight inches of their hair. Spa Pechanga, located inside Pechanga Resort & Casino, offered free haircuts and styles to anyone who wanted to cut and donate eight or more inches of their hair. The resort spa offered the complimentary haircuts to men or women willing to chop eight or more inches of unbleached and non-gray hair. The hair goes to make wigs which are then given free of charge through the American Cancer Society’s national network of wig banks to women battling breast cancer.
Kate & Mike MaynardOn September 29, thirty donors gathered at Pechanga for the inaugural Hair With Hope mass haircutting event held to kick off the haircutting campaign. The donors ranged in age from four years old to 60. Two brave ladies undergoing breast cancer treatment were also on hand at the event to receive their very own free, human-hair wigs from the American Cancer Society. Both lost theirs due to chemotherapy. Stats show it takes four to six ponytails to make one complete wig for someone undergoing cancer treatment. This was Spa Pechanga’s fourth year hosting the haircutting campaign and to date, has collected more than 200 ponytails, enough for approximately 40 wigs.
