-Santa pays kids a surprise visit; Local high school vocal ensemble fills the workshop with holiday carols –
TEMECULA, Calif. – (Dec. 11, 2017) – Fifty children from the inner city area of Wilmington, Calif. enjoyed the magic of a festive holiday workshop Monday, December 11. The Boys & Girls Club of the Los Angeles Harbor (BGCLAH) participants, most ages six through 13, received a thorough lesson on making and decorating gingerbread houses from one of Pechanga Resort & Casino’s top bakers, Nicole Murray, and three Pechanga volunteers.
“Christmas magic came to our Wilmington Club courtesy of Pechanga,” said Mike Lansing, Executive Director, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor. “Without support from businesses and organizations, like Pechanga, it would be difficult to achieve our mission of enabling young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens – the joy and care of Pechanga for our youth can make all the difference.”
The BGCLAH kids received a special surprise from Santa Claus, who even decorated some sweet holiday houses himself, helping to put the all in the holiday spirit. The Wilmingtones High School ensemble from BGCLAH Arts Academy also stopped in to sing beautiful holiday carols.
This is the first year Pechanga hosted the Gingerbread House Workshop. Pechanga has long upheld a tradition of providing critical resources for the children and families of our community. They continually give back philanthropically through monetary gifts, in-kind donations and community outreach. Some of the children may not have had any Christmas magic this year if not for this special workshop.
