TEMECULA, Calif. (Nov. 19, 2014) – Not many people can say they have seen the advent of indoor plumbing, the automobile, the telephone, radio, or television, let alone living through the women’s suffrage movement, the Great Depression, and the administrations of 17 United States presidents. Ruth Passavant of Seal Beach, Calif. is one of those people. For her 101st birthday, she made one of her regular bus trips to Pechanga Resort & Casino. Ruth, her granddaughter, three-year old great granddaughter and friend from her senior community celebrated her milestone (she says everything after 100 is a milestone) with a low key, yet upscale dinner at the resort’s Great Oak Steakhouse. Following dinner, the restaurant’s chef brought Ruth her favorite dessert, a crème brȗlée with glazed fruit. As the sprightly senior posed for a photo with the chef Martin Venegas, she turned to him and said, “My, you’re handsome,” to which the chef noticeably blushed.
Ruth’s granddaughter, Kami Gremillion, of Bakersfield, Calif. told restaurant staff that her “nana” is still as sharp as ever. Kami said for Ruth’s 100th birthday, someone gave her a cardboard cutout of actor Channing Tatum. She danced with the cutout that night and still has it in her living room. Ruth and her friends often take bus trips to Pechanga Resort & Casino for the social aspect and to do something different from their everyday routines.
Pechanga Resort & Casino wishes Ruth many more happy birthdays!
