The prog-rock/power ballad band out of Chicago that brought fans songs such as “Lady,” “Too Much Time on My Hands,” “Come Sail Away,” “Renegade,” and many more hits comes to Pechanga Resort & Casino on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 8:00p.m. Tickets for this high-energy show with moments of slower songs that bring fans back to their dewy-eyed youth are $65, $70, $80 and $90 and are now on sale at the Pechanga Box Office, by calling (877) 711-2946 or online at www.Pechanga.com/Entertainment.
What some fans may not realize is that Styx has been making music for more than 50 years. Started in 1961 by teenage twin brothers Chuck and John Panozzo, along with their neighbor Dennis DeYoung, they were originally called The Tradewinds, and later TW4. Reports say they played gigs at high schools and at frat parties and that they added two other members to the band by 1970. They were signed to a record label in 1972 and changed their name to Styx, reportedly after the river in Greek mythology between Earth and the Underworld. Sixteen top 40 singles in the United States and many albums and world tours later, Styx is still performing for fans who want to see the same energy and fun on stage as they did when the band first made it big.
