TEMECULA, Calif. (June 13, 2025) – Pechanga Resort Casino and the LA Clippers donated a refurbished technology lab at Loma Alta Park in Altadena. The lab and the remainder of the park officially opened to the public on May 17 with a grand re-opening event. The refurbishment includes the addition of laptops, desktops, 3D printers, video game consoles with games, and a charging cart for all devices. The kids wasted no time logging on to play their favorite video games and unleashing their imaginations with artistic creations.
LA Clippers’ alumni Craig Smith was in attendance for the event and challenged several eager gamers to test their skills on the new equipment. The technology outfitting the rebuilt center comes courtesy of the LA Clippers and Pechanga. The two organizations teamed up in 2024 for a long term, Founding Partner sponsorship grounded in giving back.
“The Eaton Fire devastated families throughout our region, and kids have borne the brunt of that trauma. This community center gives them what they need most right now; a safe place to just be kids again,” said Sean Vasquez, President of the Pechanga Development Corporation. “Our partnership with the LA Clippers isn’t just about donations or press releases. It’s about recognizing that strong communities are built when organizations step up during the hardest moments. That’s what real partnership looks like.”
Loma Alta Park reopened Saturday, May 17 after the devastating January Eaton Fire swept over Altadena, destroying more than 9,000 homes and buildings across Altadena and Pasadena. Last year, Pechanga and the Los Angeles Clippers gifted many dozens of computers and other technology to replace outdated and failing equipment to the Career Center at Ortega High School, a continuation school in Lake Elsinore, to help students apply for colleges, jobs, financial aid, and more. Pechanga Resort Casino also sponsors the Clippers’ annual Feed the Community holiday event. Their support helped distribute 33,000 meals to 1,000 families in need.
