TEMECULA, Calif. — (May 30, 2017) – As Pechanga Resort & Casino, California’s largest resort/casino, gears up for opening its massive, $285 million resort expansion, its talent management teams will bring on 750 additional staff members. On June 1, 560 of those jobs will be posted on the Pechanga.com website. The positions will be within the resort/casino’s Food & Beverage and Hotel divisions. Resort hiring managers encourage anyone interested in working at or finding out more about Pechanga to apply online at Pechanga.com/careers.
Pechanga then hosts its first large-scale hiring fair Thursday and Friday, June 15 and 16 to staff its massive expansion. Applicants interested in the Hotel division will be screened and interviewed on Thursday, June 15. Those interested in Food and Beverage jobs will meet with hiring professionals on Friday, June 16. Pechanga’s hiring fair runs from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. both days and will be located in the Pechanga Grand Ballroom. Positions vary from line level to supervisory and management jobs. Entry level positons at Pechanga start at $10.50 per hour, the California minimum wage, and up.
“We’re making this job fair unique so we can entice the best applicants who are looking to get in with a best in class employer like Pechanga is,” said Janet Borland, Pechanga Human Resources Talent Manager. “We’re making ourselves available at times more convenient to our applicants, there will be interactive activities for job seekers to do while they wait, and we could start extending employment offers as soon as the following Monday.”
Borland says they anticipate between 800 and 1,000 applicants over the two days. Hotel division job fair attendees can play on a putting green, get chair massages from Spa Pechanga masseuses, and more on June 15. Food and Beverage department applicants can taste some of Pechanga chefs’ award-winning food and watch chef presentations at the job fair on June 16.
“This is great news for Riverside County,” said Carrie Harmon, Deputy Director of Riverside County’s Workforce Development Division. “This announcement demonstrates Pechanga Resort & Casino’s presence as a large-scale employer and an economic driver for the Southwest region. Most importantly, this job fair, which is one of the largest employer recruitments this year, will provide job opportunities for over 500 residents. That’s a win for all of us.”
Statewide unemployment numbers released May 19 by the Economic Development Department show California already enjoyed a 4.8-percent unemployment rate in April, down from 5.5-percent in April 2016. The leisure and hospitality sector in California gained the most jobs last month – 7,400. However, the state still ties Virginia for 37th highest unemployment rate nationally. Riverside County’s unemployment rate in April was 4.9-percent.

If job seekers are not able to apply online, they may also apply in person on the respective day for which resort division they wish to apply. Thurs., June 15 for Hotel.
