Chili Champ Crowned at Pechanga – Get the Recipe!

TEMECULA, Calif. — (June 9, 2015) – A new chili champion has been crowned by the people the annual Pechanga Microbrew Festival and Chili Cookoff at Pechanga Resort & Casino. Temptations Food Court chef, Marlene Moore, tantalized the sold-out crowd with her “Temptation” Hearty Southern Style Chili. She edged out seven other Pechanga chefs’ chili varieties which included Texas-style chili with trio of meat, steak chili mac, and black bean chili con carne, with poblano rajas, crispy pork and shishito peppers.

With 219 votes out of a total of 914 from  style=”line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;”>Microbrew Festival attendees, Chef Moore, originally from Trinidad and Tobago, unseated Chef Damian Stanley of Umi Sushi & Oyster Bar who had held the chili throne for two years. Stanley received third place with 153 votes. Kelsey’s chef, Ronnel Capacia, came in a close second with 155 votes. Now in its seventh year, 1,695 people came to enjoy brews, chili and music at the 2015 Pechanga Microbrew Festival, making it the most well-attended to date. Proceeds from the event benefited Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley.

The 7th Annual Pechanga Microbrew Festival and Chili Cookoff happens Saturday, June 6 from 1:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. inside the Pechanga Grand Ballroom.
Microbrew Festival tickets are $50. Guests receive a two ounce souvenir glass to sample unlimited beer tastings. Designated driver tickets are available for $30. This holiday season, Pechanga Resort & Casino’s in-house bakery team is preparing, building and decorating hand-crafted gingerbread houses and offering them to prospective buyers. These homes come fully loaded and turnkey for gift giving or for those with a hankering for an abode on which to satisfy a sweet tooth.

Those looking for a brand new gingerbread home can find them in an easily accessed location at the 24-hour Caffe Cocoa inside the popular Temptations Food Walk at Pechanga, at Blends Coffee & Wine Bar just inside the Pechanga Hotel Lobby and at the Pechanga Coffee Cart by the Motorcoach Entrance. These homes feature amenities such as hand-drawn insulation (icing) and real curb appeal with colorful holiday sweet treats lining the outside. If buyers are careful transporting the homes, no insurance is required, property tax is waived and goodwill equity can be earned by giving one of the Pechanga gingerbread homes to someone else. These handmade gingerbread houses come in two different floor plans. The 12-inch by six inch house, the larger of the two models sell for $50 and the 10-inch by six inch house sells for $35. They will be on the market until Christmas or until all units have been snapped up by buyers.
