Elvis Costello and Blondie shared\u00a0spots\u00a0near the top of the UK Singles Chart 40 years ago when Blondie’s “Heart Of Glass\u201d sat neck-and-neck alongside Elvis Costello & The Attraction\u2019s “Oliver’s Army\u201d in the company of The Bee Gees, Gloria Gaynor and ABBA. The same week, Blondie’s seminal album\u00a0Parallel Lines<\/em>\u00a0reached #1 on the Album Chart while Costello’s\u00a0Armed Forces\u00a0<\/em>landed at #3.<\/p>\n

Elvis Costello & The Imposters\u2019 last tour in late 2018 found the combo reaching new live performance peaks. The band “came out swinging\u201d (Star Tribune) in Minneapolis, were \u201cunstoppable\u201d in Anaheim (OC Register) and played an \u201cepic and euphoric\u201d (Variety) show in LA that even at nearly three hours \u201c[left] \u2018em wanting more.\u201d The Imposters are: Steve Nieve (keyboards), Davey Faragher (bass) and Pete Thomas (drums).<\/p>\n

In 2017, Blondie hit the road in support of their most collaborative album yet,\u00a0Pollinator<\/a><\/u><\/em>\u00a0(BMG). Their spectacular live shows drew acclaim for their \u201cflair and precision\u201d (Rolling Stone<\/em>), while being called \u201cformidable\u201d (LA Weekly<\/em>) and \u201cartful, rocking\u201d (City Pages). Elvis Costello’s wide-ranging recording career began in 1977 with the release of\u00a0My Aim Is True\u00a0<\/em>in a catalogue that include such diverse highlights as\u00a0This Year’s Model,<\/em>\u00a0Get Happy<\/em>,\u00a0Imperial Bedroom<\/em>,\u00a0King Of America<\/em>,\u00a0Blood & Chocolate<\/em>,\u00a0The Juliet Letters\u00a0<\/em>with the Brodsky Quartet,\u00a0The River In Reverse\u00a0<\/em>with Allen Toussaint\u00a0and Wise Up Ghost\u00a0<\/em>with The Roots.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The 1998 release,\u00a0Painted From Memory\u00a0<\/em>contained the\u00a0first of more than thirty songs composed with Burt Bacharach,\u00a0<\/em>while the 2017 box-set re-issue of Paul McCartney’s\u00a0Flowers In The Dirt\u00a0<\/em>includes 15 demo duet recordings made by\u00a0McCartney and Costello\u00a0prior to the release of the albums\u00a0Spike\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Flowers In The Dirt,<\/em>\u00a0on which his co-written hit\u00a0singles, “Veronica” and “My Brave Face,” were first released.<\/p>\n

Costello previously appeared alongside Deborah\u00a0Harry with composer\/poet Roy Nathanson and the Jazz Passengers both in concert and on the recordings “Fire At Keaton’s Bar and Grill”\u00a0and “Individually Twisted” in the 90s.<\/p>\n

Elvis Costello & The Imposters\u2019 widely renowned\u00a0Look Now<\/em>\u00a0was released by Concord Records in 2018 and of which\u00a0Variety<\/em>\u00a0said,\u00a0“It’s so funny to be seeing him, after all this time, making a great cake of an album that doesn’t really sound that much like any of the 30 before it.”\u00a0The\u00a0catalogue will soon include the E.P.,\u00a0Purse<\/em>, containing songwriting collaborations with Burt Bacharach and Paul McCartney and musical settings of lyrics by Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan.<\/p>\n

Elvis Costello, Pete Thomas and Steve Nieve are all members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Elvis Costello is an Oscar-nominated and BAFTA and Grammy award-winning composer and member of the Songwriters Hall Of Fame. Costello has received an Honorary Doctorate of Music from both the University of Liverpool and the New England Conservatory.
