Peter Frampton exclusively spoke with CBS \u201cThis Morning: Saturday\u201d correspondent Anthony Mason this morning about living with the autoimmune disease Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM). IBM is a progressive muscle disorder characterized by muscle inflammation, weakness, and atrophy.<\/p>\n

While Frampton remains at the top of his game, having recently performed as part of \u201cI Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell\u201d concert as well as receiving the Les Paul Innovation Award at the 2019 NAMM Show\u2019s 34th annual TEC Awards, he has decided to retire from regular vigorous touring at the end of this year.<\/p>\n

As a result, he has confirmed plans for Peter Frampton Finale\u2014The Farewell Tour presented by SiriusXM, an approximately 40-date run this summer and fall, produced by Live Nation.<\/p>\n

Frampton explains, \u201cI\u2019m a perfectionist and I do not want to go out there and feel like, \u2018Oh I can\u2019t, this isn\u2019t good.\u2019 That would be a nightmare for me. It\u2019s my passion, I\u2019ve been playing guitar for 60 years. Started when I was eight and now I\u2019m 68. So, I\u2019ve had a very good run.\u201d He adds, \u201cThe reason I\u2019m calling it the \u2018farewell tour,\u2019 again, is because I know that I will be at the top of my game for this tour and I will make it through this and people won\u2019t be saying, \u2018Oh you know, he can\u2019t play as good.\u2019 I can. But we just don’t know for how long.\u201d<\/p>\n

The tour will feature special guest Jason Bonham\u2019s Led Zeppelin Evening, as well as Julian Frampton on the west coast stops, with additional surprise guests to appear on select dates. VIP packages will also be available at www.frampton.com. $1 of every ticket sold, as well as any donations, will benefit The Peter Frampton Myositis Research Fund at Johns Hopkins, a newly established fund by Frampton and Johns Hopkins, where he\u2019s being treated.<\/p>\n

Peter Frampton remains one of the most lauded artists in rock history. He recently celebrated the 43rd anniversary of his fifth solo album, Frampton Comes Alive!, one of the top-selling live records of all time, with over 17 million copies sold worldwide.<\/p>\n

At age 16, he was lead singer and guitarist for British band The Herd. At 18, he co-founded one of the first super-groups, seminal rock act Humble Pie. His session work includes collaborations with such legendary artists as George Harrison, Harry Nilsson, David Bowie, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ringo Starr, John Entwistle, Mike McCready and Matt Cameron (Pearl Jam), among many others.<\/p>\n

Frampton has appeared as himself on television shows \u201cThe Simpsons\u201d and \u201cFamily Guy.\u201d He also served as technical advisor on Cameron Crowe\u2019s 2000 film Almost Famous as well as appearing in it and writing songs for the soundtrack. In 2007 he won the Grammy Award for \u201cBest Pop Instrumental Album\u201d for Fingerprints and in 2014 he was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n

Frampton has toured with the likes of David Bowie, Stevie Nicks, Greg Allman, Ringo Starr, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cheap Trick, Steve Miller Band, Bill Wyman\u2019s Rhythm Kings and many others. Additionally, he took Peter Frampton\u2019s Guitar Circus on the road for two years with special guests B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Vince Gill, Larry Carlton, Robert Randolph, Don Felder (formerly of The Eagles), Dean DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots), Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Sonny Landreth, Robert Cray and Roger McGuinn (the Byrds).<\/p>\n
