4 Charities Receive Donations from Pechanga Charity Golf Classic
Pechanga Indian Reservation, Calif., (Aug. 272014) - Pechanga hosted a two-day charity golf tournament last week that that raised more than $100,000 for the Semper Fi Fund, School on Wheels, Operation SafeHouse, and United Friends of the Children.
In its 16th year, the Pechanga Charity Golf Classic has brought together Tribal government and Indian gaming industry leaders to raise nearly $1 million for vital nonprofits throughout the region. The event has grown in recent years to a two-day event that now includes more than 300 golfers on the championship Journey at Pechanga course.
“We deeply appreciate the work these non-profits do for our wounded veterans, homeless children, and young people,” said Patrick Murphy, President of the Pechanga Development Corporation. “We’re humbled to be in a position to support this important work that will lead to better outcomes for people throughout our region. TEMECULA, Calif. – (July 31, 2014) – Hundreds of area children will be going back to school this fall with a fresh look and more confidence thanks to one major retailer and hundreds of volunteers including more than 100 from Pechanga Resort & Casino. Outside the Temecula Promenade mall at 6:00a.m. on a recent Saturday, volunteers were paired up with a child from a low income family. The duos were each given a $125 JC Penny gift card so they could walk through the store and pick out new clothing and shoes for the school year. Kids could be seen leaving JC Penny with big bags and beaming faces as they ran to meet their moms and dads who waited for them in the store’s parking lot. The yearly event put on by The Salvation Army helps more than 200 children in Riverside County. Youngsters were accompanied by volunteers from 10 Temecula area businesses including Pechanga Resort & Casino, which had 118 volunteers, the largest showing of people. Read More
TEMECULA, Calif. – (April 16, 2014) – On a recent Saturday, the largest team of participants in the Temecula Valley Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s annual walk, the team from Pechanga Resort & Casino, put one foot in front of the other at a local minor league baseball stadium. They set out on their journey for the morning to remember a fellow team member who one month earlier passed away from type 1 diabetes, and to raise money for research to work toward eradicating the disease.
