TEMECULA, Calif. (June 10, 2013) – Anyone who watched the 67th Annual Tony Awards, as well as   most who read entertainment headlines the next day knew that 80s pop rocker Cyndi Lauper swept the show winning in six categories for her musical “Kinky Boots.” Never one to shy away from hard work, Lauper embarks on her “She’s So Unusual” Tour with stops in major cities across the country. With a show date on Friday, June 21 at 8:00p.m. at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California, audiences will be treated to superior acoustics and a comfortable setting in the plush 1,200-seat Pechanga Theater, the smallest and most intimate venue Lauper plays among her Southern California concerts.

Lauper’s Broadway musical, “Kinky Boots” led the Tony Awards field with 13 total nominations. The show won six of those categories including Best Musical, Best Leading Man and Best Original Score. During her awards acceptance speech, Lauper said of her cast, “I understand how hard you work, and I’ve never been a stranger to hard work. And your work inspires me.” The 80s songstress said the “Kinky Boots” musical was based on a 2005 movie that centers on the owner of a factory who somehow has to save his failing business. He gets the idea of morphing the factory into a source for “kinky boots” for transvestites.
